Visa’s World Cup NFT Auction: Where Sports Meets Philanthropy

As a result of a partnership between the credit card company Visa and the cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com, five new tokens have been made that are based on soccer. Through this project, they hope to help raise money for Street Child United, an organization that works to help kids in need.

The NFTs are going to be auctioned off starting today, November 1, and going through November 8. All of the money raised will be sent to Street Child United, a charity based in the UK that recently held a competition in Qatar for poor children from all over the world.

The digital collection will have the World Cup goals that stars like Michael Owen, Jared Borgetti, Maxi Rodriguez, and Tim Cahill scored during the tournament.

Each NFT is painted in the color of the player’s national team and has information about the date, the minute, and the match where the player scored a goal. The NFT has also colored the same color as the player’s national team. On top of that, the NFT has the player’s name on it.

“Right now, the only thing we need to do is find our place in the world. The Web 3 platform has almost an infinite number of possible uses, but we still need to find them.”

Andrea Fairchild, who is a Senior Vice President at Visa, made this comment.

At the Visa Masters of Movement space, which will be at the FIFA Fan Festival in Doha, people who are going to the World Cup will be able to use a variety of tools to make their own digital art. Visa will pay for improvements in this area. Fans will be able to make NFTs by playing soccer against each other on a digital field to earn points. The whole game will last four minutes, and there will be six people on each team.

Spectators will be able to see their NFT right after the match is over, and it will be sent to their Crypto.com wallet within two weeks. People who don’t meet the requirements to open a Crypto.com account can still get the digital collectible in the form of a non-NFT digital file instead of opening an account.

In the venue that Visa is providing for the Masters of Movement event, people will be able to find out more about the cutting-edge payment services and features that Visa has to offer. This group includes new technologies like blockchain and others like it, as well as others like them. Since FIFA’s sponsorship began in 2007, Visa has been the official organization that backs the payment service for the organization.

Visa teamed up with FTX, which is one of the most important cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, in October so that debit cards could be used in more than 40 different countries. When people use a debit card, they will be able to move money directly from their cryptocurrency wallets into the account of their choice of bank. At the moment, cards can only be bought in the United States. However, they will be available in Europe and Latin America in 2023.
